Mukesh has no match when rendering sad songs.

This song is based on the raag ♫

... ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ...

In this song, the man sings about the importance of the new find, his lover, for his life. Without someone like her, life was proceeding aimlessly, etc. Although perhaps this is not always the case in real life, there is some truth to it: A marriage seems to provide proper structure to fulfil many - all? - aspects of life.

Translation is inspired by http://www.hindilyrics.net/translation-Aandhi/Tum-Aa-Gaye-Ho.html. I have changed some translations with the belief that the changes are for the better. You can also enjoy a YouTube video below.

नूर = light

[Note. Notation for humming needs to be added.]
You have to see the movie to appreciate the context for the song, but suffice it to say that the lyricist, Prasoon Joshi, has deftly described the tumult in a man's heart as he awaits a 'yes' from his lover.
The meanings presented here are based on those provided by another blogger, The Bollywood Fan. (Netizens are welcome to comment on the meanings and, in fact, on the lyrics too). There are several music videos on YouTube, and one is here.
Another rendering by Soumen Nandi of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 2009.
Google Hindi-to-English Translator translates गुज़ारिश as 'request'.

You can find Meanings and English transliteration on the web. The song is from the movie 1942: A Love Story. Most of the material in this blog post comes from that URL.

The poet — lyricist Javed Akhtar — describes how a boy feels when he sees a girl [for the first time]: many different ways in which the feelings are expressed, 21 ways to be exact, in 3 stanzas of 7 characterizations each. The song can be translated as

When I saw this girl, she seemed to me like ...
... a blooming rose,
... a poet's dream,
...

Now, enjoy the video as your read the lyrics presented below.

The first few lines of this song are very perceptive of the lyricist in bringing out the feelings that may exist in the former lovers of a separation, or divorce, that is about to happen.

Many poems, or songs, have double entendre in them. In particular, many Indian songs would have such a reference to either a lover or God. Depending upon your point of view or mood, you can ascribe either one of the interpretations to the song.

The song ನೀನಿಲ್ಲದೇ ನನಗೇನಿದೆ by M. N. Vyaasa Rao seems to be one such. For some more details on Rao's music publications, see here. I created the following transliteration by listening to the rendering by M. D. Pallavi.
