ನೀ ಸಿಗದೇ ಬಾಳೊಂದು ಬಾಳೇ, ಕೃಷ್ಣಾ

An honest cry, it seems, of a humble person to seek God.

ಮತ್ತದೇ ಬೇಸರ, ಅದೇ ಸಂಜೆ, ಅದೇ ಏಕಾಂತ

A lover sings in despair, unsure of whether the [other] lover will return. The emotional feeling to be noted here is the singer's belief that, upon the return, the existing lethargy of the mind, and the gripping silence because of the lover's absence, would both be driven away by the lover's arrival.

ಎದೆ ತುಂಬಿ ಹಾಡಿದೆನು ಅಂದು ನಾನು

ಈ ಹಾಡನ್ನು ನಾನು ಮೊದಲ ಬಾರಿ Milpitas ನಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಮಾರು ೨೦೦೦ರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೇಳಿದೆ. ಅನಂತಸ್ವಾಮಿ ಅವರು ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಭೇಟಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದರು. ಇದನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಬಹಳಾ ಸಂತೋಷವಾಯಿತು. (ಯಾಕೆಂದರೆ, ಅಮೆರಿಕಾಗೆ ಬಂದಮೇಲೆ, ಕನ್ನಡ ಹಾಡುಗಳು infrequent ಆಗಿತ್ತು). ಈ ಹಾಡಿನ ಜ್ಞಾಪಕ ಈಗ ಸುಮಾರು ದಿವಸಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ಬಂತು. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಇದರ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯವನ್ನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಓದಿ, ಕೇಳಿ, ಸಂತೋಷಪಡಿ.

(ಇದೇ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯವನ್ನು ಬೇರೆ ಜಾಗಗಳಲ್ಲೂ ನೋಡಬಹುದು; ಇದು ಒಂದು ಉದಾಹರಣೆ. ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಪುನಃ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿರುವ ಕಾರಣ: ನನಗೆ ಇಲ್ಲಿರುವುದನ್ನು ನೋಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಹಾಡುವುದು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಗೆ ಸುಲಭ).

 

ನೀನಿಲ್ಲದೆ ನನಗೇನಿದೆ ...

Many poems, or songs, have double entendre in them. In particular, many Indian songs would have such a reference to either a lover or God. Depending upon your point of view or mood, you can ascribe either one of the interpretations to the song.
