Elaborate description of a female by a male lover —
a mother's wish — खुशियाँ जितनी है सब ढूंढ ढूंढ के लाऊँ — all rolled into one song.

And, the lyricist is — drum roll — Javed Akhtar.

Patriotism, when accepted voluntarily, can be an overwhelming emotion. As you reflect more on life, you feel the power of where you were born, raised, etc., in other words, a certain sense of belonging to where you were born.

(Although posted on April 1, this post is not an April Fool's joke).

This is the Lata Mangeshkar version that sings about lost love.
"The night got killed when the moon disappeared in [my] tears.
Loneliness is what fills in [the rest of my] life"
The music punctuates the narration of the story nicely to bring out the emotion. You can relish the male version here.

The imagination that the lovers have on how they have fallen in love is a beautiful expression. Although real life love may not always be able to be expressed in such glorious terms, it is useful to see such possibilities.

It seems like there is no match for Javed Akhtar, the lyricist.

The reunited lovers describe how they have been separated for most of their youthful years -- another Yash Chopra love story. "दिल में मगर, जलते रहे, चाहत के दिये", what a powerful sentiment!

You can find Meanings and English transliteration on the web. The song is from the movie 1942: A Love Story. Most of the material in this blog post comes from that URL.

The poet — lyricist Javed Akhtar — describes how a boy feels when he sees a girl [for the first time]: many different ways in which the feelings are expressed, 21 ways to be exact, in 3 stanzas of 7 characterizations each. The song can be translated as

When I saw this girl, she seemed to me like ...
... a blooming rose,
... a poet's dream,
...

Now, enjoy the video as your read the lyrics presented below.

The first few lines of this song are very perceptive of the lyricist in bringing out the feelings that may exist in the former lovers of a separation, or divorce, that is about to happen.
