Music, when the lyrics describe some purposeful emotion or thought. These posts are in a mix of English/Hindi or English/Kannada pairs. With the advent of Google's transliteration, it is unnecessary to have inconsistent and misleading hand-crafted English transliterations of originals, for Hindi and Kannada in this blog's case. [If a transliteration is required, it can always be produced by software]. Hindustani ragas are shown in Devanagari, e.g., ♫देश; Carnatic, in Kannada, e.g., ♫ಖರಹರಪ್ರಿಯ.

यह दूरियां ...
The poet sings that all distances [between people] be removed. Doesn't everybody like to be close to others?

ಯಮನೆಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಣೆನೆಂದು ಹೇಳಬೇಡ
This song was sung by someone in a recent gathering marking someone else's death. Its beauty, as I see it, is its ability to point out God's eternal presence supporting the life-death continuum. God underlies both life and death. If you know the Hindu puranic character pairs of ಯಮ-ರಾಮ, ವಿಭೀಷಣ-ರಾವಣ, ಅರ್ಜುನ-ಕೌರವ, ಉಗ್ರಸೇನ-ಕಂಸ and ಪ್ರಹ್ಲಾದ-ಹಿರಣ್ಯಕ, it will help in appreciating the lyrics a bit better.
